A Baxter County man was apprehended following a 2 1/2-hour-long manhunt involving four agencies Tuesday after he fled during a traffic stop. Thirty-three-year old Kory Adam Charlton of rural Mountain Home was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

According to information from Baxter County sheriff John Montgomery, Charlton was spotted in the Henderson Park Campground by a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger shortly after 10:00. The park ranger notified law enforcement of the vehicle Charlton was driving.

A short time later, an Arkansas State Police trooper spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near the old Fun Mountain location on U.S. Highway 62/412 east of Mountain Home. Charlton was seen lying down in the vehicle but then jumped out and fled into a wooded area on the south side of the highway.

Officers set up a perimeter and a canine tracking team from the Arkansas Division of Corrections – North Central Unit in Calico Rock was brought to the location and began tracking the suspect.

The Mountain Home Police Department assisted with their drone for aerial reconnaissance and observation.

Shortly after 12:30, the canine tracking team found Charlton in the woods in the area of Christiansen Road where he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to Baxter Health for treatment of injuries sustained while fleeing and then taken to the Baxter County Detention Center.

He is charged with a felony of revocation of bench warrant and a misdemeanor count of fleeing. He is being held without bond pending his first court appearance.
