Two counties in north central Arkansas will be among five in the state that will have monitors during the upcoming general election. The Arkansas State Board of Election Commissioners voted Wednesday to approve a request by director Chris Madison to send monitors to the five counties which include Izard and Searcy.
Madison tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News the monitors will help ensure the election process goes as smoothly as possible in the two counties where problems have occurred in past elections.
Madison says in the case of Searcy County, it’s to make sure everything operates correctly with their ballots and hand counting process.

In Izard County, Madison says there have been some problems with addresses in the past which led to confusion at the polls.

The monitors in Searcy County will be on hand for Election Day and hand-count process. In Izard County, they will be there during early voting and on Election Day.
