In a statement released Monday afternoon, Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin states no evidence suggested the threats to the Mountain Home Public School District late Sunday night originated from within the local community.

Griffin stated the Mountain Home Police Department along with the Arkansas State Police undertook a thorough investigation in response to the threats against the district. He says multiple local students were interviewed during the investigation.

Authorities state they are committed to remaining vigilant and will promptly investigate any new leads that may arise locally. Griffin says it’s important to note similar threats have been reported at various locations across the state and nationwide. Preliminary findings indicate that social media platforms were instrumental in disseminating these threats, creating widespread fear and disruption in numerous areas.
