Man arrested after chasing another man with knife, stabbing his vehicle

A Mountain Home man has been arrested after chasing another man with a knife and then stabbing the man’s vehicle. Sixty-year-old Nykola Kotyk Jr. was arrested Tuesday night and is facing four charges for the incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, Kotyk got into a confrontation with another man at a gas station. Kotyk pulled a knife and began chasing the victim who ran to his car. Kotyk then stabbed the car with the knife.

After police arrived and placed Kotyk in handcuffs, he tried to pull away and refused to walk before officers were able to get him into the patrol car.

Kotyk is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault along with misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental operations. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on bonds totaling $10,000.

He has two prior arrests in Baxter County. In 2007 he was arrested for terroristic threatening and was given probation. In 2018, he was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault, criminal use of prohibited weapons, resisting arrest, fleeing on foot and disorderly conduct. He was acquitted of those charges based on mental disease or defect.
