Over the summer, the Mountain Home Public School District implemented a new cell phone policy. The new policy prohibits cell phone use during class, and students are encouraged to turn in their phones to the teacher at the beginning of each class. However, they are allowed to have possession of their phones as long as they are put away. The district received a grant of over $11,000 from the state to purchase storage cases for each high school and junior high classroom.Mountain Home High School Principal Mary Beth Russell spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits, and The Boot News and says she has seen the number of students with failing grades drop by forty percent since the implementation of the new cell phone policy.
