Beginning Monday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District, or USACE, will start major roadwork at Panther Bay recreation area on Norfork Lake and Lakeview Park recreation area on Bull Shoals Lake. The project will involve repaving the roadways, causing several full and partial closures due to heavy equipment and the scope of work. The project is set to last through November.
Panther Bay and Lakeview Cove marinas will remain accessible during construction, though restricted lane usage or delays may occur. At times, Panther Bay Marina may only be accessed through the Panther Bay Campground off U.S. Highway 62.
USACE will update the public on significant access changes through local and social media.
All special events at both parks have been canceled, and new events will be scheduled once the work has been completed. While camping reservations at Panther Bay Park will not be affected, Lakeview Park will close on Monday, including all campsites, pavilions, boat launch facilities, and other day-use facilities. Customers can use alternate boat launching facilities at Dam Site Park in Bull Shoals during the closure.
USACE officials regret the inconvenience but emphasize the work will enhance safety and improve the visitor experience.
This project marks the start of planned improvements, including enhancements to boat ramps, additional parking in normal and high-water areas, and improvements to park entry and exit points.
Funding for this project comes from the 2024 Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, which is funding projects for roads, bridges, water systems, broadband, and more to enhance safety, create jobs, and improve competitiveness.
