A minor was killed when her pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler Friday morning in Fulton County. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Arkansas State Police, the female was traveling on U.S. Highway 63. She reportedly lost control during an attempt to negotiate a curve, and the passenger side of her truck collided with the front of the 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

While the report did not identify the teen, a Facebook post from the Highland School District states one of its students was involved in a serious accident before classes began. As a result, the district announced the cancellation of several athletic events Friday and Saturday, including the Rebels’ football game with Riverview. They also canceled the ACT testing scheduled for Saturday morning.

The road was wet, and the rain was falling at the time of the 7 a.m. accident.
