The Yellville-Summit High School football team’s non-conference finale ended with them winning their first home opener under head coach Chaseton McCarthy. The Panthers were able to hold off Berryville with a 34-27 victory. Yellville-Summit is now 2-1 on the year, and their 3A-2 opener will be next week at Quitman.

Mountain View went on the road and invoked the mercy rule in its last game before next week’s conference opener. The Yellowjackets routed Piggott by a 43-8 decision. Mountain View’s record improves to 2-1, and they’ll head to Mayflower next week.

On the eight-man level, Marshall needed an extra period to get its win. The Bobcats got past Subiaco Academy 26-20 in overtime. Marshall’s record stands at 2-2, and they’ll finish their five-game home stand next week against South Side-Bee Branch.
