Big Creek Golf and Country Club has changed ownership and undergone a slight name change. Mountain Land Group, LLC, sold the Mountain Home golf course to Clay and Heather Maxey, Brent and Marta Edens, Erik and Taylor Stewart, Dr. Brad and Dawn Schulz, Wes and Catie Wood and Brad and Katelyn Simons during the summer, and the course is now titled Big Creek Country Club.

Clay Maxey, a Big Creek homeowner, says, “Our group saw it as a huge blessing and opportunity to passionately carry the torch and follow in the footsteps to be the next generation of ownership at the club. It’s an honor.”

Thomas E. Clark of Ault, Clark and Associates was the designer of the course that opened in 2000. According to the news release, Clark is being inducted into the Arkansas State Golf Association’s Hall of Fame this month in Little Rock.

Big Creek has been a multi-year winner of Golf Digest’s Places To Play coveted five-star ranking. It has hosted multiple Arkansas state high school championships and United States Golf Association qualifiers.

Mountain Land Group is the developer of the Big Creek planned golf community. They continue to own all of the land surrounding the golf course with plans to continue development of residential property for both single-family and patio homes. Lot purchasers will continue to be required to maintain at least a clubhouse membership in Big Creek Country Club through deed. That membership obligation is required to be transferred to any new owner.

Mountain Land Group Managing Partner Lang Zimmerman says, “The original ownership group of 42 that came together to start Big Creek voted unanimously in favor of the sale to these member families. They demonstrate a dedication to continue maintaining and improving the golf course and club. We believe this will ensure continued growth of not just Big Creek but also the entire Mountain Home area. That growth and economic development were two of the driving forces behind Big Creek’s creation. Our board of directors are excited about the new ownership group and their vision for Big Creek’s future.”
