A man has been arrested for assaulting and threatening to kill the mother of his daughter in Fulton County and then fighting with deputies who tried to arrest him. Facing a total of six charges for the incident is 40-year-old Randall Lee Durbin of Jackson, Mississippi.
The probable cause affidavit from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office indicates Durbin showed up to the victim’s house in Viola Saturday to pick the girl up. The victim told deputies it appeared Durbin had been drinking and he became upset when she refused his sexual advances. She says Durbin grabbed her by the throat, pressed his thumb into her chin and threatened to kill her.
The incident was witnessed by the victim’s oldest daughter. The victim was able to grab her phone and call 911, but Durbin took her phone, smashed it and threw it on the roof.
When deputies arrived, they found Durbin in his truck with the daughter he had come to visit. After interviewing the victim, they tried to interview Durbin who didn’t talk to the deputies. When they tried to take him into custody, he resisted and struck one of them with a glancing blow. An electronic control device was used to subdue Durbin and take him into custody.
Durbin is facing felony charges of second degree battery and terroristic threatening along with misdemeanor charges of third degree domestic battery, resisting arrest, second degree endangering the welfare of a minor and interfering with emergency communications. He is free on $20,000 bond.
