Pevril to receive Retired Educator’s Award at MH Education Foundation Night of Honors

A long-time teacher and coach will be among the Class of 2024 for the Mountain Home Education Foundation Hall of Honor. Clint Pevril will receive the Retired Educator Award during Thursday’s Night of Honors.

Pevril says his heart lept when he received the news about the upcoming induction.

Pevril began his time as an educator in the local district in 1996 when he taught ceramics at Mountain Home High School Career Academies. He later became an art teacher following the retirement of Jack Arnold.

Pevril retired from teaching after the spring of 2023. He says one thing that always stood out in his mind while he was in the classroom was the students’ reactions once they realized what they could create.

Pevril’s enshrinement into the Mountain Home Education Foundation Hall of Honor comes seven years after he was inducted into the MHHS Athletic Hall of Honor. As a Mountain Home student-athlete, he finished his senior year in 1985 as the state champion in the 3200-meter run and tied the Class 3A state record. As a coach, his girls’ cross country teams were state champions from 2007 to 2009, state runners-up in 1998, 2001 and 2006 and conference champions in 2002 and from 2006 to 2010. On the boys’ side, his teams were state champions in 2000, state runners-up in 1998, 1999 and 2006 and conference champions in 2002 and 2006.

The Mountain Home Education Foundation’s Night of Honors is scheduled for Thursday evening at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. The reception starts at 5:30, and the dinner and program will begin a half hour later. For tickets, call 870-425-1201.
