Monday volleyball results include MH winning 3 of 5 matches at West Plains

Five Mountain Home volleyball teams went across the state line on Monday to meet West Plains.
The varsity match ended with the Lady Bombers beating the Lady Zizzers in four sets with scores of 26-24, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-21. Anna McCarn led Mountain Home with 18 kills, 13 blocks and four digs; Daelyn Harper had 12 kills and four blocks; Annyston Crooker added five kills; Addison Martz recorded 20 digs; Karleigh Drewry finished with 15 digs; Cara Jackson ended up with 19 assists and 10 digs; and Micayla Magis chipped in 17 assists and nine digs.
The high school junior varsity match needed all three sets with Mountain Home getting past West Plains 25-16, 21-25 and 25-12. The J.V. Lady Bombers were led by Deanna Human with seven kills and six blocks, Loreali Greed added six kills, Ava Jones dished out 21 assists, Aspen Vostatek had 15 digs, Kenna Medley recorded 10 digs, and Maddie Simmons finished with eight digs.
Mountain Home also took the junior high varsity match in three sets as they topped West Plains 25-21, 22-25 and 15-8. Maycie Carlson led the Junior Lady Bombers with eight kills, three digs, a block and an ace; Joslin Haney ended up with six kills and a block; Macy Farris chipped in five kills; Eliana Pepin had four kills, seven digs and three blocks; Dawson Harper recorded four kills, eight digs and a block; Fiona Everett finished with three kills and five digs; Violet Daugherty ended up with 24 assists and two aces; and Shayn Wickersham added 14 digs.
Mountain Home lost the junior high junior varsity match to West Plains in three sets and the seventh grade match in straight sets.

A few area high school volleyball teams began postseason play on Monday.

The 3A-2 District Tournament got underway at the Panther Palace in Bergman. Yellville-Summit began the day by defeating Cave City in four sets with scores of 25-21, 25-21, 14-25 and 25-22. Flippin later needed all five sets, but they were able to secure a regional tournament bid as they beat the Lady Panthers 18-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-27 and 15-6. Melbourne watched its season come to an end in straight sets as Bergman posted scores of 25-20, 25-8 and 25-22.

Two area schools competed on the opening day of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Marshall. Omaha won the opener in straight sets over Alpena with scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 25-12. Izard County later clinched a regional berth after beating the Lady Eagles in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.
