A rural Mountain Home man facing new drug charges and the revocation of his probation on older drug charges appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court last Monday.
Sixty-one-year-old Darin Eugene Greer who lists an address along Webber Road pled guilty on his new charges, including possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
He was sentenced to two years in prison with a judicial transfer to one of the Community Corrections Centers in the state for addiction treatment. In addition, Greer will be on probation for four years following his time at the center.
The petition to revoke his probation on older drug charges was dismissed by the state.
The new drug charges stem from a compliance visit at Greer’s residence by parole/probation officers in late March.
The officers reported finding two full bottles of Kratom pills, a small amount of methamphetamine and marijuana.
They also found a glass smoking pipe used to ingest drugs.
Kratom is an herbal-based drug touted by some as a safer substitute for narcotic painkillers and by others as being a dangerous substance — potentially as addictive as heroin.
The drug is illegal in Arkansas but legal across the state line in Missouri.
