The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death following a structure fire Wednesday night in the rural Pyatt area.

According to a press release from Sheriff Gregg Alexander, emergency responders received a call about the fire along Marion County Road 3015 at approximately 8:21 Wednesday night. Upon arrival, officials found the structure fully engulfed in flames. After extinguishing the fire, responders discovered a body inside the residence.

A vehicle belonging to the property owner was found in the driveway, but the owner could not be located. Investigators spoke with family members who reported seeing the property owner at the residence earlier in the day, but they did not know where else the individual could be.

During the investigation, authorities learned the resident had recently complained about a faulty space heater.

The victim’s body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to confirm identification and determine the cause and manner of death.

Sheriff Alexander stated the investigation is ongoing, with officials processing the scene and conducting interviews. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Assisting at the scene were the Flippin Fire Department, Yellville Fire Department, Summit Fire Department, Bruno Fire Department, and the Mountain Home Fire Marshal.
