OCTOBER 17, 2024 MOUNTAIN HOME SCHOOL BOARD LIVESTREAM
TRANSCRIPT
Director of Operations Chris Knight reported on ongoing projects including an application for funding to replace the roof at Guy Berry, with the results expected in May. Knight reported leftover funds from a safety grant in the amount of $59,000 which will be used to upgrade classroom doors with secure doorknobs. A report was also given on the new high school gymnasium video board being installed. The 6.5-foot by 12-foot video board was funded through a donation from a group of individuals, including the costs for its installation and wiring. There is no financial burden on the school district, as the project comes with no cost.
The board approved a stipend for the National Honor Society (NHS) to recognize the efforts of high school staff, with a motion receiving unanimous support.
Additionally, the board discussed a one-time longevity bonus for 37 experienced staff members who had not received raises due to budget constraints last year. The bonus aims to acknowledge their dedication, and the motion passed unanimously.
Matt Daly, newly elected chair of the Classifed Personnel Policy Committee (CPPC), requested approval for a $500 bonus for food service department employees, which was also approved. Daly praised the department’s hard work and effective budget management.
In a unanimous vote, the board appointed Donna Harper as the new district treasurer replacing Leah Cotter as she has moved into the District’s Chief Financial Officer role.
Before the board went into an executive session to discuss personnel matters, the board discussed a new copier lease, retaining 11 machines from the previous lease while adding 32 new ones, bringing the total to 43. The new lease is projected to save the district money, with costs decreasing from $6,981.93 to $4,638.25 per month. The motion was approved unanimously.
