The Yellville-Summit High School football team had another rough outing on the road on Friday. The Panthers went to Salem and suffered a 56-7 defeat. Yellville-Summit drops to 2-5 on the season and 0-4 in the 3A-2, and they’ll be on the road for the final time this season next week at Melbourne. Salem is 4-3 and 3-1, and they’ll host Mountain View for Senior Night.
Izard County had another tough outing in front of the home crowd. The Cougars ended up losing 46-6 to Des Arc, the third-ranked team in Class 2A by the Arkansas Sports Media. Izard County falls to 0-7 on the season and 0-4 in the 2A-2, and they’ll have their final road trip next week at Marked Tree.
Melbourne had another game that went down to the wire. The Bearkatz came on the winning end as they squeaked by Atkins 42-41. Melbourne improves to 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the 3A-2.
Mountain View was able to pick up its second straight conference win on Friday. The Yellowjackets came away with a 38-0 shutout victory over Episcopal Collegiate. Mountain View is now 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the 3A-2.
Harrison ended up with another road loss. The Goblins fell to Morrilton, currently ranked fifth in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, by a final of 49-26. Harrison drops to 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in the 5A-West, and they’ll host Vilonia next week.
On the eight-man level, Marshall’s regular season came to an end on Friday. In a battle between Bobcats, Marshall lost to Corning 68-12. Marshall falls to 3-5 on the year.
