The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will once again take part in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day this Saturday at Tractor Supply, located at 1025 U.S. Highway 62 East, from 10 until 2. The event aims to safely dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, to prevent misuse and ensure public safety.
Deputies will be on hand to assist with the disposal process. The event is free, and no questions will be asked. Participants can drop off pills or medications in their original bottles, bags, or other disposable containers, with the option to remove personal labels beforehand.
This national initiative highlights the growing concern over pharmaceutical substance abuse and the dangers these drugs pose to public health, particularly for children.
For those unable to attend, a secure drop box is available at the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office at 206 West 8th Street. The box is under 24-hour video surveillance and is accessible at any time.
Collected medications will be destroyed using incineration equipment.
For more information on the event or drop-off procedures, contact the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
