A routine traffic stop by Arkansas State Police in Conway on Sunday morning escalated into a bomb disarmament operation.

Troopers arrested 36-year-old Jeremy Lee Henry from Taylor, Michigan, after discovering an explosive device during a search of his SUV. In addition to the bomb, they found various illegal narcotics and multiple Social Security and identification cards.

Authorities described the suspected explosive as a metallic cylinder similar to a CO2 cartridge, equipped with a 1-foot-long fuse. The ASP bomb squad, along with bomb technicians from the Conway Fire Department and experts from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, confirmed that it was a functional explosive device.

The device was transported to a secure location where it was safely disassembled.

Investigators also uncovered marijuana, a mushroom-infused candy bar, illegal prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Henry was booked into the Faulkner County Detention Center, facing multiple charges, including criminal use of a prohibited weapon, criminal impersonation, driving while intoxicated, and possession of controlled substances. He was also cited for driving on a suspended license, improper lane changes, following too closely, and not wearing a seatbelt. As of now, no bond has been set.
