The month of November will begin with the Mountain Home High School football team’s final home game of the regular season. Friday will be Senior Night as the Bombers welcome Van Buren to the Twin Lakes Area.
Mountain Home returned to the Arkansas Sports Media rankings this week as they are fifth in Class 6A. The Bombers are currently 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in the 6A-West after shutting out Lake Hamilton last week. Van Buren is 3-5 and 2-3. The Pointers are coming off a seven-touchdown loss at the hands of Greenwood.
Mountain Home head coach Steve Ary is hoping to be back on the sideline after missing last week’s game due to a mild heart attack. He says there’s a lot riding on this week’s matchup, including home field advantage to start the postseason.

Elsewhere in the 6A-West, Russellville hosts Siloam Springs, Shiloh Christian entertains Lake Hamilton, and Fort Smith Southside is home against Greenwood.
Yellville-Summit will open a season-ending two-game home stand this week. The Panthers are slated for an outing with Atkins.
Yellville-Summit is 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the 3A-2. The Panthers lost their last road game of the season last week at Melbourne. Atkins is 5-3 and 3-2. The Red Devils suffered a seven-point defeat last Friday to Quitman.
While Atkins has struggled over the last couple of games, Yellville-Summit head coach Chaseton McCarthy says they’re still a tough team to contend with.

Also in the 3A-2, Salem travels to Mayflower, Melbourne hosts Episcopal Collegiate, and Mountain View entertains Quitman.
Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Izard County is home against Earle, and Harrison makes the trip to Greenbrier.
The postseason will get underway in Missouri with the start of district play.
Two area teams will square off in the first round of the Class 3, District 6 Playoffs. Hollister will head to Forsyth.
Ava will have home field advantage for its opener in the Class 2, District 4 Playoffs. The Bears are set to host Houston.
West Plains and Branson will wait a week to begin their postseason run. The Zizzers and the Pirates both have first round byes as the top-seeded teams in their respective districts.
