Incumbent Rick Steiner retained his seat on the Baxter County Quorum Court Tuesday, while newcomers Bob Nault and Mike McDonald won contested race in election results.
For Justice of the Peace District 2 Mike McDonald received the winning votes at 1,735 which was 84 percent. His challenger Johnny Rickman garnered 337 votes at 16 percent of the vote. Mike McDonald will occupy the seat held my Angela DeGroote who did not run for reelection.
Steiner, who serves as Justice of the Peace for District 3, secured 82% of the vote with 1,645 ballots cast in his favor. His opponent, Donnie Huffine, received 364 votes, amounting to 18% of the total.
In the District 7 race, Nault defeated Derek Huber with 73% of the vote. Nault garnered 1,341 votes, while Huber received 505. Nault will take the seat of Dr. Charles Osgood, who lost to Nault in the March primary.
Several other new members will join the quorum court in unopposed races. Lisa House will represent District 6, succeeding Tink Albright, who did not seek re-election. Eddie Griffin will assume the District 8 seat currently held by Roger Steele, who also did not seek re-election. Eric Payne will represent District 11, replacing Ty Chapman.
