Marion County’s election results ended up with the Bull Shoals mayoral race being forced to a runoff. Incumbent Mayor Carol Duss will square off again in a few weeks with William “Bill” Stahlman Jr., who advanced to the runoff by one vote.
Duss was the top vote getter in the race with 301 votes for 30%. Stahlman had 253 votes for just over 25%, beating out Phil Friese’s 252 votes for just under 25%. Travis Fancher was fourth with 204 votes for 20%.
Daryl J. Lindman was the lone incumbent on the Bull Shoals City Council to keep his seat. Lindman will remain on Ward 1, Position 1 with 533 votes for 57%. Challenger Merle E. Fawcett Sr. had 405 votes for 43%.
Randal Bolen will replace George J. “Joey” Grede for Ward 1, Position 2. Bolen had 474 votes for just over 50%, and Grede received 471 votes for just under 50%.
Michael Castagna ended up losing his seat to Russell Meinking for Ward 2, Position 1. Meinking tallied 575 votes for 61.5%, and Castagna had 360 votes for 38.5%.
Michael Howell had just enough votes to avoid a runoff and become the Ward 2, Position 2 councilman. Howell had 489 votes for 51%, Brenna Ferrell finished with 329 votes for 34%, and incumbent Dino Giannini ended up third with 150 votes for 15%.
Challenger Nancy Jo Pucci defeated Ward 3, Position 1 incumbent Dale Forbus. Pucci received 535 votes for 56%, and Forbus had 427 votes for 44%.
Ward 3, Position 2 was captured by Kevin Hutchinson over incumbent Wesley Phelan. Hutchinson ended up with 627 votes for 66%, and Phelan tallied 321 votes for 34%.
Bull Shoals’ incumbent recorder/treasurer was also defeated. Paula Reynolds took the win with 488 votes for 51%. Tina Bailey had 474 votes for 49%.
