Trammel named MVP as Valley Springs defeats Jasper: Calico Rock falls at home

Area basketball teams where in action Thursday night with a great night for Valley Springs girl’s team.The Tigers where on the road to Jasper and the girls took the first win with a score of 68-40. Coach Yates was impressed with the teams defense performance, “Tayla Trammell was our MVP tonight. Her ability to anchor our defense impacts our team in ways that stats do not show.” Macy Willis scored 37 points with Raylee Rodman adding 11 and Laramie Watkins scoring 8.

The Pirates where able to best the Valley Springs boys team following the girls game with a score of 67-74.

Calico Rock hosted Mammoth Springs with the visitors claiming both games.

Molly Corbett put up 22 points for Mammoth Springs aiding in their win with a final score of 71-39.

Calico Rock got close but Mammoth Springs was able to sink a few extra points for a final score of 66-60. Ayden Matheny had 22 points, Caleb Michaels added 15, Gavin Vandiver sunk 12 and Braxton Sneed was busy adding in 11 points for Mammoth Springs.
