The American Legion Auxiliary Alley White Post 52 will host its first annual “In Remembrance” program this Sunday afternoon at 1, honoring deceased Veterans.

For a $10 donation, a bell will be rung in memory of a deceased Veteran. Honorees may have died in active service or as civilians following their service.

Lucia Pairolero says these types of events are becoming more important for benefiting Veteran organizations.

The ceremony will include the honor guard bringing in colors, music and the national anthem, a speaker, the honor roll, flag folding and an explanation of what each fold means, a final salute and refreshments.

During the honor roll, a bell will be rung for each donation made for a Veteran. The bell will be rung multiple times if multiple donations have been given to the same Veteran. The Veteran’s name will then be placed on a roster to be posted on the wall at the Post. The roster will be replaced after each year’s In Remembrance program.

Pairolero, who has hosted this event in other areas, says there is already a lot of support for the program, despite it being the first time the event is being held in Mountain Home.

Veteran organizations, their Auxiliaries, anyone remembering a deceased Veteran and the public are invited to attend the ceremony.

Donations can be sent to Alley White American Legion Auxiliary at 717 Market Street in Mountain Home or given in person before the program begins.
