Future USS Arkansas commanding officer gives keynote address at MH Veterans Day ceremony

Commander Mike Huber addresses the crowd during the Veterans Day ceremony at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000.

The commanding officer of the future USS Arkansas submarine was the keynote speaker during the Veterans Day ceremony in Mountain Home. Naval Commander Mike Huber spoke to those in attendance at the Mountain Home Plaza 2000 and those listening on KTLO-FM.

Commander Huber says he was honored to not only pay respects to those who have served and are currently serving in the military, but also to share the details of the USS Arkansas.

Huber adds while the date of christening approaches for the USS Arkansas, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the spirit of service never ends.

As Huber was concluding his address, he told the veterans in attendance they should be recognized as the “link in a chain” reaching back to the foundation of the United States.

The ceremony concluded with the rifle salute by the Alley-White American Legion Post 52 Honor Guard followed by the playing of taps.
