MH freshmen boys fall in season opener

The season opener for the Mountain Home freshman boys basketball team started on a sour note. The Junior Bombers saw a loss to Bentonville of 19-56 as they competed in the NWA Classic. Max Bryant put up 12 points for the Bombers with Michael Ewing contributing 3. The 9th grade team starts the season 0-1 and will play Bentonville West in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.

Locally on the high school level Mammoth Springs was home against visiting Highland. In the girls matchup it was Highland who took the win with a score of 56-48. Molly Corbett scored 29 points and Jailee Tyson added 11 for the Bears. Things turned around for the boys with the home team defeating Highland 58-56. Braxton Sneed tallied 20 points while Caleb Michaels and Gavin Vandiver added 14 and 17 points respectively.

Elsewhere, Salem’s girls team routed Jonesboro Westside 49-32.
