The 16th annual Be a Santa to a Senior has begun in Mountain Home and will run through the first week of December. Christmas trees have been set up around different businesses in Mountain Home. The trees have bulbs on them which correspond to a sponsored senior living in an assisted living facility or on Medicaid with their request for a Christmas gift.
Participants are encourage to select the bulb that stands out to them. Once the gift is acquired, they can be brought back to the location of the tree. Gifts should not be wrapped as they will need to be inspected before being delivered, but they can be placed in a gift bag. All collected gifts will be distributed to seniors in mid December.
Businesses such as Farmers and Merchants Bank, June’s Hallmark, Estate and Elder Law, Dollar General and Nature’s Way have trees available with seniors to select a gift for.
Susan Stockton, the Marketing Director for Home Instead, says the gifts requested are often simple gifts but hold great value to the recipients.
