Monday’s rainfall total was 0.77 inches making the monthly total now 10.96 inches knocking the previous 4th place wettest record from 1996 down to 5th. The precipitation this month was much needed after a 3 month spell of very dry conditions with most of the state under burn bans. Heavy rains in the first week led to area flooding as more rain fell in a couple days than had fallen in the previous 3 months.
Monday was also noticeably windy with strong winds recorded at the Baxter County Airport in Midway. Records show that from around noon through 6 in the evening sustained winds of around 20 mph where blowing through the area with wind gusts approaching 40 mph.
Clear and cooler conditions are forecasted for the rest of the week with overnight lows Thursday and Friday possibly dipping below the freezing point. Rain chances are possible again mid Thanksgiving week. It will only 0.42 inches of additional rain to make this month the second wettest on record. The number one spot is currently 15.60 inches which fell in November of 1994.
