When people think of the iconic Baker building on the North East corner of the Mountain Home square they most likely ponder their next meal, a cold brew, or foster memories of getting fitted in fine clothing but many forget that at one time babies where born in the building.
During last Saturday’s episode of Retracing Our Roots on KTLO about the building now occupied by Rapp’s Barren Brewing Co., Vincent Anderson and guest Russell Tucker hinted that a popular local resident was born on the second floor.

Sonny Sharp who was a guest on Wednesday’s episode of Talk of the Town with Sammy Raycraft confirmed that he in fact was born in the Baker building. Sharp a member of the Baxter County Historical Society shared the story of his mother’s experience in 1945.

Dr. Chambers was not used to delivering babies quite as large as Mr. Sharp and was quite proud.
