With the holidays approaching, Arkansas State University-Mountain Home is preparing for the fourth edition of an annual month-long event to celebrate the season and bring the community together. The Coulter Celebration of Lights, starting near the end of November, is also another way to provide scholarships to the university’s students.
ASU-Mountain Home Director of Development Becca Bouldin was a previous guest of the Talk of the Town on KTLO-FM, and she says the program was born through a joint project with the city of Mountain Home, and it has quickly garnered recognition.

Every year, it’s the goal of those putting together the Coulter Celebration of Lights to make the festival bigger and better. Bouldin says due to the generosity of Dr. Ed and Lucretia Coulter, this year’s program will include a new entrance gate.

The Candy Cane 5k will kick off the lighting ceremony on Nov. 29. Participants can enjoy the decorations on the ASU-Mountain Home campus while running or walking to support the funding of scholarships for students.
Bouldin says the biggest need for the festival is volunteers at the gates during the month of December.
