Names of victim, suspect released from homicide in West Plains

The West Plains Police Department has released the names of the victim and the suspect from Wednesday night’s homicide. Forty-eight-year-old John Lee Wilson Sr. was pronounced dead at the scene, and 49-year-old Brandy Gale Wilson has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree domestic assault with serious physical injury, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and four counts of armed criminal action.

According to authorities, officers were in the 1200 block of Jackson Street around 9:20 Wednesday night when they heard the gunshots from an area of Columbus Drive. As they began their search, they received a call from a citizen in the 1200 block of Columbus Drive. The caller stated a male had been shot and was laying on a porch.

Officers arrived and located an unresponsive male, identified as John Wilson. Medical personnel soon responded and pronounced him dead. Officers later learned during the investigation a disturbance had started at a nearby residence, and Brandy Wilson allegedly shot John Wilson multiple times.

Bond for Brandy Wilson was set at $100,000.
