A Mountain Home High School alum is getting ready to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championship this weekend. Arkansas State senior Jacob Pyeatt will take part in the men’s 10K Saturday morning at 10:10 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis.

Pyeatt advanced to the national championship race after finishing seventh at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship last week in College Station, Texas. The former Bomber ran a career best 29:24.8 to earn his third All-Region honor as a Red Wolf. He is the first men’s runner for A-State to reach the national championship event in three years. Pyeatt also won the Sun Belt Conference’s individual championship at the beginning of November.

Saturday’s race will be televised on ESPNU.
