Friday basketball results include Cotter getting swept by Izard County

The Cotter High School basketball teams had a rough night at home as they were swept in a pair of conference games against Izard County.
The Warriors lost to the Cougars 69-46 in the boys’ game. Kade Yancey and Kasen Black led Izard County with 15 points each, and Gabe Spray added 11. The Cougars improve to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the 2A-2.
The night wasn’t any better for Cotter’s girls as they fell to Izard County 50-25. The Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 14 points, and Olivia Spray chipped in 10. Izard County is now 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in the league.

Viola split a pair of girls’ games at home against Sloan-Hendrix. The Lady Longhorns fell to the Lady Greyhounds in the senior high game 74-47. Viola was more fortunate in the junior high contest as they squeaked by Sloan-Hendrix 33-32.

The Bakersfield boys had a dominating performance while one of their players hit a milestone. Morris Collins scored his 1,000th career point while helping the Lions rout Bradleyville 88-30.

The Mammoth Spring High School teams ended up getting swept at home by Melbourne. The Bears lost the boys’ game to the Bearkatz 57-29. Mammoth Spring’s girls also fell to Melbourne 66-37.

The Timbo girls had another tough road trip. The Lady Tigers suffered a 75-24 defeat to Alpena.

Lead Hill had mixed results as they hosted another group of Tigers from Valley Springs.
Lead Hill edged out Valley Springs 63-30 in the senior boys’ game. Lead Hill was led by Kaden Baker with 17 points, Noah Royce scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Brett Arnold had 10 points. Keyton Carnahan recorded 19 points for Valley Springs and reached 1,000 for his career, Parker Spaw finished with 16 points, and Logan Avery ended up with 15.
Lead Hill had a different result in the senior girls’ contest as they lost to Valley Springs 72-25. Macy Willis was Valley Springs’ top scorer with 19 points, and Tayla Trammell added 16.
Lead Hill also fell to Valley Springs in the junior boys’ game 41-27. Tucker Middleton led Lead Hill with 14 points.

The Bergman High School teams had mixed results as they started hosting their Holiday Hoopsgiving. The Panthers won dominated their boys’ game over LISA Academy North 84-59. Bergman did not fare as well on the girls’ side as they lost to Farmington 81-36.
