MADISON, Wis. (11/23/24) – Jacob Pyeatt recorded the best finish by an Arkansas State cross country runner at the NCAA Championships in over 50 years on Saturday, placing 102nd in the men’s 10K at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.

The Mountain Home native completed the 6.2 miles in 29:56.5 and was within the top 100 for a majority of the distance. He was one of 255 total runners in the race.

Pyeatt climbed from 118th after 1000 meters up to 87th at the 4K mark, and then was 89th with the final 1000 meters remaining.

His finish is the best by an A-State cross country runner since Bob Gray was 25th in 1969, racing at the 6-mile distance instead of 10K, and the best in program history since the NCAA went to the 10K distance for its men’s championships.
