Following over 12 inches of rainfall on Nov. 4 and 5, Marion County is pushing forward with repairs to the Moccasin Creek bridge on County Road 8060, which was impacted by recent and earlier flooding.
The heavy rains caused additional flooding in areas already damaged by severe storms on July 17, delaying previous repair efforts. However, an assessment from engineers with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) confirms that the structural integrity of the bridge remains intact, clearing the way for work to resume.
Marion County Judge Jason Stumph announced repairs will recommence on Dec. 9, prioritizing the restoration of safe travel along the route.
While Judge Stumph expressed optimism about reopening the bridge soon, he acknowledged that winter weather could impact the repair timeline. He also asked for continued patience as county road crews work diligently to address damage across the area.
