Black Friday will be a big night for the Mountain Home High School football team as they are one win away from their first state championship game appearance in 18 years. The Bombers will compete in the semifinals of the Class 6A State Playoffs for the first time since 2006 as they travel to Greenwood for the second time in four weeks.
Mountain Home will also be making its third final four appearance in school history after tripling up Little Rock Catholic 42-14 last week at War Memorial Stadium. Bombers’ senior offensive lineman Eston Ford says it was a game in which the team had a good showing on both sides of the ball and a lot of support in the stands.

With last Friday’s victory, Mountain Home improved to 10-2 on the year. It’s been a long time since the Bombers have had a double-digit win season. Head coach Steve Ary says it’s a testament to how his players have bought in to what he and his staff have brought to the program, and it all begins with a strong work ethic.
Listen:
Ford expands on that thought, saying 2024 has been a season to remember for him and his teammates.
Listen:
Greenwood, who is seeking its second consecutive state championship and 12th overall, has a record of 11-0 on the season. The Bulldogs played their postseason opener last week after having a first round bye and shut out El Dorado 48-0.
Mountain Home went to Greenwood on Nov. 8 for the final game of the regular season. The Bombers suffered a 42-0 defeat to the Bulldogs to finish conference play as 6A-West co-runners-up. Ary says against a team like Greenwood, Mountain Home is going to have to play mistake-free football.
Listen:
Kickoff at Smith-Robinson Stadium is scheduled for 7. Friday’s game will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube. Coverage begins at 5:45 with the Bomber Buzz.
