Sales tax numbers continue to increase in November for City of Mountain Home, Baxter County

Sales tax numbers for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue to increase for the month of October.

According to the Mountain Home Director of Finance and Treasury, Alma Clark, the city collected a total of $573,845 in city sales tax revenue for November which is an increase of 1.7307% for the month. Year-to-date, the city has seen a total increase of $153,830 or 2.4239%.

Figures released by Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize show Baxter County’s revenue portion equals $504,383. This time last year, Baxter County received $493,957 which is an increase of $10,425 or 2.1%.

Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. The following numbers were received in November, which reflect area spending from the month of September.

Mountain Home received $272,849 in county sales tax. When compared to last year’s total of $267,209 which is a increase of 2.1107%. The year-to-date increase equals $92,917 or 3.1491%.

Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:

– Gassville, which received $46,187;

– Cotter, which received $18,849;

– Lakeview, which received $16,487;

– Salesville, which received $10,062;

– Norfork, which received $9,892;

– Briarcliff, which received $5,020; and

– Big Flat, which received $1,872.

Baxter County received $221,401 in revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center.

Mountain Home received $215,192 from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. At this time last year, the city received $211,531 which is a monthly increase of 1.7306%. The year-to-date increase is nearly $57,699 or 2.4245%.

Mountain Home has collected nearly $286,922 for October from the park improvement sales tax, which is $66,638 more than needed for Bond Payment of $220,283 for 2024.

Park operation sales tax for July equals $143,461.
