A Cotter man was arrested last week after threatening to injure his father and assaulting law enforcement. Thirty-one-year-old Cody Wayne Sallee is facing five charges for the incident, including two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, a class Y felony, the most serious crime in Arkansas not punishable by the death penalty.

According to information from the Cotter Police Department, law enforcement was called to a residence on Powell Street Nov. 25 for a verbal domestic altercation. The first officer on the scene learned Sallee had threatened to stab his father in the eye. Sallee then barricaded himself in the house.

Another officer from Cotter along with an officer from the Gassville Police Department and two deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist. While trying to get Sallee out of the house, he swung or charged officers with a piece of plywood. Officers eventually gained access to the house and took Sallee into custody.

In addition to the aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer charges, Sallee is facing a felony charge of terroristic threatening along with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $15,000.
