A Marion County Library employee has been arrested and charged with felony offenses, including failure to file tax returns and tampering with public records, following an investigation into alleged misuse of county funds and a county credit card.

According to a release from Marion County Sheriff Gregg Alexander, 52-year-old Dana Scott, who serves as the Marion County Librarian, was taken into custody on Monday following an investigation into alleged bookkeeping discrepancies at the Marion County Library. Investigators discovered evidence indicating Scott failed to comply with laws governing county funds and misused a county credit card. Authorities allege Scott falsified public records in connection with purchases made using the county card.

Scott was charged with one count of failure to pay or file tax returns and two counts of tampering with public records, both Class DD. felonies. She was booked into the Marion County Detention Center and later released after posting a $1,500 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.

There will be an emergency Library Board meeting Thursday night at 5 at the Marion County Library to discuss personnel matters.
