A birds nest appears to be the cause of a fire in the parking lot sign at Walgreens.

The Mountain Home Fire Dept (MHFD) responded to reports of fire at the Walgreens on Highway 62E in Mountain Home at 5:02 Wednesday evening. Upon arrival smoke was observed coming from the sign. After laddering the sign a birds nest was discovered to have been built in the top of the sign acting as fuel from overheated electrical components. A 2 lb extinguisher was used to put out the smoldering fire. Power was shut off to the sign.

8 total fire personnel where on the scene with Engine Co. 1 and 2 as well as a support vehicle responding. No injuries where reported. Damage to the sign from fire and smoke was estimated at 10 percent.
