Strong routs Midland for 8-man state championship

The first week of Arkansas’ high school football state championships got underway Thursday with the eight-man game. Strong captured the title as they routed Midland 66-14 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Kaiden McHenry was named the game’s most valuable player after leading the Bulldogs’ ground attack with 11 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown. He also completed all three of his pass attempts for 95 yards and two additional score and had two punt returns for 54 yards. The Mustangs were led by Jayce Adams with 23 rushes for 106 yards.

Strong finishes the season at 8-0. Midland falls to 11-1.

The first two 11-man championships will be decided on Friday. The Class 2A game kicks off at noon between Conway Christian and East Poinsett County, and the Class 5A game will start at 6:30 between Farmington and Little Rock Parkview.
