The Cotter High School girls’ basketball team was able to pick up a conference win on the road. The Lady Warriors went to Newark and topped Cedar Ridge 44-38.
Norfork came away with two wins as they hosted Timbo for three games. The Lady Panthers won the senior girls’ game over the Lady Tigers 61-25. Norfork was not as fortunate in the senior boys’ contest as they fell to Timbo 61-51. The evening started with Norfork’s junior boys beating Timbo 37-27.
The Yellville-Summit High School teams were able to come away with a sweep at Shirley. The Lady Panthers beat up on the Lady Blue Devils 68-19. Yellville-Summit’s boys also put the mercy rule in effect as they pounded Shirley 64-33.
The Viola High School teams ended up getting swept by Rural Special at Fox. The Lady Longhorns lost to the Lady Rebels 63-38. Viola’s boys also fell to Rural Special 76-32.
The Calico Rock boys had a good night on the home floor of Harold Ray Jeffrey Gymnasium. The Pirates defeated Greers Ferry West Side 64-51.
Izard County’s boys won their first consolation game in the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic at Jonesboro as they squeaked by Subiaco Academy 54-53. Gabe Spray was the Cougars’ top scorer with 26 points, and Sebastian Robbins recorded 10. Izard County improves to 4-2 on the season.
Mammoth Spring had one win as they went to Marshall for four games. The Bears fell to the Bobcats in the senior boys’ game 66-54. Marshall also won the senior girls’ contest 58-37. Mammoth Spring’s junior girls had their lone win as they beat Marshall 31-21. Marshall took the junior boys’ game 36-12.
Melbourne’s boys came up just short in front of the home crowd. The Bearkatz were edged out by Thayer, Mo., 54-51.
The Bergman boys began their run in the Drew Central Classic on a winning note. The Panthers breezed past Star City 60-32.
Valley Springs’ boys suffered a loss on the road. The Tigers fell to Beebe 71-59.
Harrison had mixed results Friday as they continued in the Freedom Bank Willard Basketball Classic. The Goblins advanced to the boys’ championship game with a 79-73 win over Springfield Glendale. Harrison had a different result on the girls’ side as they fell to Columbia Rock Bridge 61-30.
