Bryant spent much of the high school football season as the top-ranked team in Arkansas, and Saturday, they proved why at War Memorial Stadium. The Hornets came from behind to capture the Class 7A state championship with a 28-23 victory over Bentonville.
Bryant quarterback Jordan Walker was the game’s most valuable player with 20 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns. Walker was also 9-of-18 passing for 122 yards, an additional score and an interception.
For the Tigers, Trevor Grant was 18-of-37 through the air for 203 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Chris Ficklin led Bentonville’s rushing attack with 34 carries for 147 yards and a score.
The Hornets wrap up the year at 13-0. The Tigers drop to 9-4.
