When the Mountain Home High School football team opened their season with West Plains in late August, the game was branded the “Battle of the Border” with the two teams squaring off for a trophy. That brand is being extended to boys’ basketball as the Bombers go across the state line Tuesday to meet the Zizzers, and a trophy will be presented to the winners.
Mountain Home is currently 4-4 on the season. The Bombers finished third in the Billy Ply Memorial Tournament Saturday in Flippin with a three-point victory over the host Bobcats. West Plains has a record of 1-3. The Zizzers ended up fourth in the Freedom Bank Willard Basketball Classic after losing Springfield Glendale over the weekend.
In addition, attendees to the game will have an opportunity to be admitted free of charge. A West Plains School District project known as the Bridges Program is hosting a toy drive. Those donating a toy will not be required to pay to get in.
The junior varsity game tips off at 5. The varsity contest begins around 6 and will be broadcast on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network on YouTube.
