A few area high school basketball teams were in Mammoth Spring on Tuesday to conclude the first round of the Battle of the Border Tournament. Cotter’s girls defeated Calico Rock 50-27. Cotter did not fare as well on the boys’ side as they suffered a 70-58 loss to Alton, Mo. The other boys’ game ended with Viola falling to Mammoth Spring 63-26.
Norfork had mixed results in its high school games at Concord. The Lady Panthers invoked the mercy rule as they routed the Lady Pirates 58-26. Norfork had a different result in the boys’ game after losing to Concord 57-43.
Flippin’s girls had a tough outing on the road. The Lady Bobcats fell to Melbourne by a final of 55-47.
The Bakersfield boys picked up a win in a neutral site game. The Lions went to Mountain View-Liberty and squeaked by Eminence 47-45.
Dora’s boys suffered a road loss on Tuesday. The Falcons went to Winona and lost 58-44.
Marshall split its high school games at Jasper. The Lady Bobcats topped the Lady Pirates 61-51. Marshall was not as fortunate in the boys’ game as they fell to Jasper 72-62.
Timbo ended up with mixed results against Rural Special at Fox. The Tigers took the boys’ game over the Rebels 56-43. The girls’ contest did not go as well for Timbo as they lost to Rural Special 59-31.
The Mountain View High School teams split their games at Bergman. The Lady Yellowjackets defeated the Lady Panthers 64-50. Mountain View’s boys lost to Bergman 68-50.
Valley Springs had mixed results in its high school games at Cave City. The Lady Panthers beat up on the Cavewomen 56-30. Valley Springs fell in the boys’ game to Cave City 60-52.
Harrison’s boys went across the state line and came close to breaking the century mark. The Goblins topped Branson 98-79.
The Omaha boys had a rough night in front of the home crowd. The Eagles lost to Founders Classical Academy 71-34.
