High school basketball makes up much of the local Saturday schedule as a few area teams will conclude tournament play.
The Battle of the Border Tournament will come to an end at Mammoth Spring. The consolation championship games will begin the day as Calico Rock’s girls meet Couch, Mo., at noon, and the Cotter boys face Couch at 1:30. The third place games will follow as Cotter’s girls take on Viola at 3, and the Pocahontas boys play Alton, Mo., at 4:30. The championship games will wrap up the event as Mammoth Spring’s girls will be paired Willow Springs at 6, and the Calico Rock boys face Mammoth Spring at 7:30.
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament will come to an end at Melbourne with the host school playing in all four championship games. Izard County’s junior girls will meet Melbourne at 4, the Melbourne junior boys take on Cave City at 5, their senior girls play Highland at 6, and their senior boys will be matched up with Cave City at 7:15.
Mountain View’s girls will be in Batesville for the championship game of the Mark Marton Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets meet Nettleton at 5:20.
Two area boys’ teams will compete on the final day of the Green Forest Holiday Tournament. Lead Hill faces Huntsville for the consolation title at 4:20, and Bergman takes on Berryville for the championship at 7:20.
The Bergman girls will wrap up action in the Tournament of Champions at Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers play Lamar at 2:30.
Harrison’s boys will play their last game in the Arvest Hoopfest at Rogers. The Goblins go up against Conway at 11.
