The Flippin High School basketball teams had a good night on their home floor as they swept Yellville-Summit. The Bobcats took the boys’ game over the Panthers 60-49. Flippin also won the girls’ contest over Yellville-Summit 41-34.
Gainesville’s boys wrapped up the week by getting beat. The Bulldogs lost at Ava 55-46.
Izard County had mixed results as they hosted Sloan-Hendrix for four games.
The senior boys’ game ended with the Cougars invoking the mercy rule with a 75-41 win over the Greyhounds. Cash Arnhart was Izard County’s top scorer with 24 points, Cade Yancey recorded 21 with all from behind the arc, and Gabe Spray finished with 11. The Cougars improve to 5-4 on the season and 3-0 in the 2A-2.
Izard County did not fare as well in the senior girls’ contest as they fell to Sloan-Hendrix 52-45. Quinn Johnson led the Lady Cougars with 15 points, Tinlee Bailey ended up with 14, and Olivia Spray added 12. Izard County drops to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Izard County breezed past Sloan-Hendrix in the junior girls’ game with a 37-16 decision. The Junior Lady Cougars were led by Hadleigh Herron with 16 points, and Reese Johnson chipped in 11. Izard County is now 5-2 and 2-1.
Izard County’s junior boys had a tough outcome as they lost to Sloan-Hendrix 48-28. Benaiah Spray was the Junior Cougars’ leading scorer with 15 points. Izard County falls to 5-4 and 1-2.
The Dora High School boys ended up getting beat on the road. The Falcons fell to Plato 36-29.
Melbourne’s girls had a dominating performance in the Westside Classic at Jonesboro. The Lady Bearkatz put the mercy rule in effect as they routed Little Rock Southwest 68-26.
The Marshall girls were able to pick up a win on the road. The Lady Bobcats squeaked by Tuckerman 50-48.
Lead Hill was able to win both of its boys’ games as they hosted Founders Classical Academy for homecoming.
The Tigers topped the Spartans 63-49 in the senior high game. Noah Royce paced Lead Hill with 20 points and 10 rebounds, Kaden Baker also had a double double with 14 points and 10 boards, and Dawson Lively scored 10 points.
The mercy rule was used in the junior high contest before Lead Hill beat up on Founders Classical 41-13. The Junior Tigers were led by Tucker Middleton with 18 points.
Bergman’s girls had an easy win on the consolation side of the bracket in the Tournament of Champions at Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers pounded Fort Smith Southside 67-39.
The Harrison boys’ second game in the Arvest Hoopfest at Rogers ended with a victory. The Goblins beat Heritage 71-54.
Harrison’s girls came away with a win on their home floor. The Lady Goblins defeated Clinton 52-43.
The Omaha High School teams ended up getting swept at Kingston. The Lady Eagles fell to the Lady Yellowjackets 66-55. Omaha also lost the boys’ game to Kingston 76-30.
