The Battle of the Border Tournament came to an end Saturday at Mammoth Spring.
On the girls’ side, Cotter finished in third place with a 49-41 victory over Viola. Mammoth Spring kept the championship trophy as they beat another group of Lady Bears from Willow Springs 60-47. Calico Rock lost the consolation game to Couch, Mo., 55-33.
Cotter’s boys won the consolation game as they beat up on Couch 75-49. Calico Rock fell to Mammoth Spring in the title game 53-50. Pocahontas took third place with a 61-54 win over Alton, Mo.
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament came to an end at Melbourne with the host school keeping three of the four championship trophies. The Bearkatz won the senior boys’ game over Cave City 81-59, the senior girls’ contest over Highland 56-50 and the junior boys’ game over Cave City 55-50. Izard County won the junior girls’ game over Melbourne 46-29.
Mountain View’s girls ended up as the runners-up of the Mark Martin Automotive/Lyon College High School Tournament. The game needed double overtime, but Nettleton pulled away from the Lady Yellowjackets 76-66.
Two area boys’ teams competed on the final day of the Green Forest Holiday Tournament.
Bergman went back home with the championship trophy. The Panthers defeated Berryville by a final of 67-43.
Lead Hill fell in the consolation championship game to Huntsville 80-52. Noah Royce led the Tigers with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bergman girls finished sixth in the Tournament of Champions in Fort Smith. The Lady Panthers lost to Lamar 74-62.
Valley Springs’ girls took part in the Cabot Classic and came away with a 55-53 win over Collierville, Tenn. The Lady Tigers were led by Laramie Watkins with 16 points, Macy Willis scored 14, and Tayla Trammell added 13.
The Harrison boys were able to win their finale in the Arvest Hoopfest at Rogers. The Goblins beat Conway 74-68 in the morning session.
