Bomber Battalion with all the Awards Won During the First Annual Mountain Home Drill Meet

The first annual Mountain Home Bomber Classic Drill Meet took place on December 14-15, 2024, at Mountain Home High School. The event featured competition between multiple NJROTC, AJROTC, AFJROTC, and MCJROTC programs, including teams from Mountain Home, Fort Smith Northside, Bentonville, Willard, Watson Chapel, Alma, Beebe, and Catholic High School.

The meet included a range of competitive events across various categories, such as armed and unarmed exhibitions, armed and unarmed regulations, color guard, physical fitness (PT), Brain Brawl, drone soccer, and solo or duo performances in armed and unarmed exhibitions.

The event showcased the skill and precision of cadets as they demonstrated discipline and teamwork in a series of drills and challenges. Teams competed in both individual and team-based events, testing their leadership, knowledge, and physical abilities.

Mountain Home’s NJROTC unit had a strong showing at the event, earning several top honors. The team took first place in Academic Brain Brawl, led by Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade Grace Hale, and in Armed Regulation, commanded by Cadet Chief Petty Officer Kyle Holmes.

They also claimed first place in Armed Exhibition, commanded by Cadet Commander Ethan Darracq, and in Armed Color Guard, led by Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer Aaron Hale.

Mountain Home’s success continued with first-place finishes in Armed Personnel Inspection, led by Cadet Commander Ethan Darracq, and Armed Division Overall.

In addition to these first-place awards, Mountain Home secured second place in Unarmed Regulation Drill, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Dylan Prins, as well as in Armed New Cadet, led by Cadet Jakub Walls.

The team also earned second place in both Drone Soccer and Drone Overall.

Mountain Home placed third in Unarmed Exhibition, commanded by Cadet Lieutenant Chyanna Dusin, in Unarmed Color Guard, led by Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade Kristen Eddings, and in Physical Fitness, commanded by Cadet Ensign MaKynley Smith.

During the award ceremony, the Principal of the Mountain Home High School, Mrs. Mary-Beth Russell, handed out the awards. The event was a success for all participating teams, providing a platform for cadets to demonstrate their leadership, teamwork, and drill skills.

The first annual Mountain Home Drill Meet highlighted the dedication and hard work of the cadets and their instructors. Mountain Home’s performance, with numerous top-three finishes, underscored the strength of their program and their preparation for future competitions.

Looking ahead, the Bomber Battalion will compete at OKC drone and drill on January 25-26, 2025. Following this event, the NJROTC will attend the Arkansas State Drill Championships at Fort Chaffee on February 14-16, 2025. The unit’s Brain Brawl team will compete at ASUMH on March 8, 2024.
