The Arkansas Department of Transportation’s Recreational Trails Program (RTP) has announced award recipients for 2024 and the Baxter County Library Foundation is getting money to build a walking trail at the library that will be connected to the walking trails at Arkansas State University Mountain Home and McCabe Park. The library foundation was awarded $456,000 as part of an 80/20 matching grant, meaning the foundation will pay the other 20% of the project.

Kim Crow Sheaner, the Director of the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County, says building a walking trail was something that was talked about when they built the library, but it was put on the back burner at the time. But she says the foundation felt it was time to bring the project back to the table.
