A Mountain Home woman was seriously injured after being struck in the Walmart parking lot Wednesday afternoon. Forty-three-year-old Elizabeth Van Haaren was treated at Baxter Health, and according to a Facebook post by her husband Bob, was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
According to the report from the Mountain Home Police Department, the accident happened at 4:35 when Van Haaren was walking in the crosswalk and a vehicle turned from one of the lanes in the parking lot and struck her at a slow speed, causing her to fall backwards and strike her head on the parking lot. The driver, whose identity was not released because they are a juvenile, said they did not initially see Van Haaren and once they did, it was too late to stop.
Van Haaren’s husband said on Facebook she has a skull fracture and was initially intubated, but the breathing tube was removed Thursday morning and she is resting comfortably.
